About

The story of Oughterard AFC dates to 1997 when a group of football loving locals established the football club.

The main ethos was to give an opportunity to people to play football locally with their friends and families. It started with a senior men’s team and was soon followed by underage football.

Little has changed since then in terms of the ethos of everyone involved in the club, but the Club’s home ground in Newvillage Football Park and the growing numbers in membership have changed dramatically over the past decade.

Today the Club currently fields 16 competitive teams with our club members predominantly coming from Collinamuck, Roscahill, Oughterard, Casla, Killannin, Maam and Moycullen. The club provides football for 400+ players with the help of 40+ coaches.

Future Plans

The continued growth of Oughterard AFC means we must develop the club’s facilities even further for this generation and the next.

Our mission is driven by our commitment to deliver on the ambitions of those people who met over 20 years ago and their belief that football would add great value to our community.

But like most things in life, we can’t just wish for it, we must work for it. And by working together we are investing in the present and future generations of our children, grandchildren and everyone enjoying the facilities in Newvillage Football Park.

We need to continue to invest in the facilities which includes progressing plans to increase coaching capacity at Newvillage Football Park to cater for the increasing participation levels at the club.

However, this can only be done if the club has sustainable funds to make this investment.
