We don't let the rain dampen our spirits here at OAFC especially with the arrival of the summer camp footballs and jerseys! The first FAI Football Summer Camp kicks off on Monday in Newvillage. A small number of spaces are still available in the second camp (August 4th-8th).
MENS O35s are still top after beating Athenry this evening in Newvillage. OAFC took the lead 20 minutes in through a great strike from Darren Burke from outside the box. Athenry scored straight after the restart after a loss in concentration at the back. Taking back control of the game, we scored from a lovely Chris O'Toole finish from a Paul Maloney cross. Paul then got on the score sheet himself from the penalty spot. The score was 3-1 at half-time with two more in the second half, both from Darren Burke, completing his hat-trick. A great victory this evening and an incredible performance by our Mens O42s team - their first win of the season! We started strong and created a number of chances early on, but it wasn’t until 30 minutes in that we took the lead when Iolo redirected a looping header into the far corner. The second half was testing and we had to dig deep. Keith added a goal from a great through ball from Seamus, and we battled on keeping a clean sheet, thanks to a few world class saves from Bryan, one of which had to be seen to be believed!
