Great performance and two wins in a row for our Senior Women today. With hard work, OAFC took all three points vs West United. Niamh R with the early goal in South Park in a game that finished 1-0. ⚽ U12 GIRLS progress to the semi-final of the Connacht Shield after a 2-1 win vs Mayo side Ballyvary Blue Bombers. It was a tight competitive game with great skills displayed. In the first half an assist by Arianna resulted in a goal from Keelin. Ballyvary levelled the match in the second half but Freya pulled OAFC ahead with another goal. A shout out to Orla for her fantastic goalkeeping skills. Thanks to the Ballyvary for travelling and to Pat & Matthew for helping out with refreshments after! ⚽ Good 2-1 win for U18 BOYS from a make-shift side. Goals from Shay and Edward in the first half before Moyne Villa got one back before half-time. Scrappy second half with a few chances and good goalkeeping from Moyne Villa. Many thanks to Barney and Enda for helping gather a few players. ⚽ Busy week ahead for U16 BOYS B who picked up a 5-2 win away to Kinvara. From the start OAFC controlled the game with Ryan getting on the scoreboard twice. Kinvara got one back after half-time but OAFC kept the pressure on and Jurica's super strike from the edge of the box found the top corner. Thomas scored the fourth and Ciaran the fifth after a great run and cool finish. Kinvara got a second late on but the result was never in doubt. Results to match the glorious weather today with all squads coming away with positive outcomes. A much improved Merlin Woods gave U14 BOYS A a good game, but the battling mentality of OAFC was enough for the 4-2 win. Devon with another great strikers hat-trick to add to the list and Sean got on the scoresheet again to complement an energetic 2nd half performance. Besides the obvious hat-trick man, MOTM went to Senan. In the absence of our injured captain he took the armband and led the team well until the final whistle. ⚽ A solid performance from U12 BOYS B put them 3-0 up the break and led to a comprehensive win in the end. OAFC continued to excel in the second half with David, Harry and James pushing us out of sight. David completed an accomplished hat-trick just as he was being subbed off. MOTM went to Harry M. Goals, assists, quality one-two's to open up space and encouraged every teammate. Crossbar denied him his own hat-trick. Thanks to Harry's uncle Paul Madden for his sideline assistance in Mike's absence today. ⚽️ Tricky encounter for U12 BOYS C who started bright but were caught on the break with Merlin Woods taking an early lead. OAFC responded with some great wide play and finally grabbed the equaliser from Harry M to make it 1-1 at half-time. Getting out of the blocks quickly in the second half, OAFC grabbed what proved to be the winning goal when Tiernan was first to get to the loose ball in the box. FT score: 2-1. A real team performance this week so MOTM goes to the whole team! ⚽️ In a tight physical game it was a free kick from Cathal that rebounded to James that broke the deadlock in the U12 BOYS A Connacht Shield quarter final. In the 2nd half OAFC began to dominate possession and Joe scored a screamer of a volley. Athenry were rewarded a penalty which they failed to convert. OAFC never looked back after this, Patrick W scored a long range strike. Paddy was next, a top bin super strike. Last but not least was Roan with a super header from a pinpoint Cian corner. Final score 5-0 and onto the semi finals for this talented group. POTM shared between Paddy and Donie for super hard work in midfield in both halves. ⚽ A goal in the first minute was a platform for a dominant 6-1 win for U15 BOYS B. And altough Kinvara equalised, a third hat-trick in 3 games for John was followed by a great free kick from Dillon and 2 strikes from distance by Henry and Aidan. A great all round team performance! ⚽ And well done to our O35s who won 3-2 in the 2nd Annual 'Heavenly Players Memorial Shield'. More details and photos to follow...
